Downed power lines once again sparked a smoky brush fire in Contra Costa, this time behind Corte Azul and near Campolindo High School in Moraga Monday.
About seven to ten acres burned before MOFD firefighters were able to declare the blaze 50 percent contained, hampered by terrain and the proximity of power lines which presented a threat to California Division of Forestry aircraft called in to drop water and retardant on the blaze.
A 3rd Alarm was declared for the vegetation fire at 3 p.m. with residents reporting medium to heavy drift smoke in the area, filtering eastward to Walnut Creek and beyond.
The fire was eventually declared under control after burning an estimated 10 acres. No injuries were reported and no structures were lost.
Stay safe in Moraga. For those of you with breathing issues, thankfully you have your windows closed and the AC on. Stay cool!

Quite a show out there today. You don’t have to have a repeat performance to impress me. Crazy.
