Law enforcement sources confirmed what several neighbors conveyed to this site after a joint agency task force descended on a Moraga home Wednesday, briefly blocking off a section of Camino Ricardo and reportedly detaining at least two people.

Few official details were available Thursday but we were able to determine that a team comprised of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and other federal and local police agencies were involved in what was described as “an ongoing criminal investigation” at a home in the 700 block of the street Wednesday morning.

The scope of the investigation was not revealed but sources said there was no threat posed to the community and that it did not involve U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) personnel.

Residents driving through the neighborhood expressed surprise at coming upon the operation in the course of their day.

“The street was blocked off by men in tactical gear,” one resident wrote. “I would have taken photos for you but the men standing there were not messing around!”

We’re told the investigation is still developing and that additional details will be forthcoming. We’ll bring them to you when we get them.

  1. The strange thing is all the agencies purposely had their identities intentionally covered!!! A friend was close by and zero Agency was clearly displayed. All the vests were intentionally covered one “agent” had a sweatshirt on over his vest that looked like it belonged to his kid it was so tight no way he got it on by himself. Due to the lack of identification many of us were even wondering if it was a drug robbery of some kind. Neighbors were hiding as there were many guns being waved around and zero identifying markings to suggest it was a law enforcement operation.

  2. I understand the need for this type of enforcement effort but I wish the responsible agency wouldn’t come in hot masked and hooded. It’s a bad look and people are nervous enough.

  3. You can lawfully take photos of law enforcement or any person in public. Thats the first amendment. There is no reasonable expectation to privacy.

    • You’re right, Dan, and we frequently do, as you know. But Moragans aren’t used to seeing guys in balaclavas carrying M4s through their rose garden! Caught folks off guard – which is the idea, of course.

  4. Mozzarella is the blandest component but gives you that creamy mouth feel. You gotta have a good balsamic to compliment the ripe tomatoes and fresh basil. Are my posts public now? Gremlins vanquished? Ok, nevermind!

    • Your posts have always been public, amigo, ‘cept on the rare occasions you’ve strayed into verboten territory. Despite what you may think, we look forward to hearing what you have to say…

  5. Why would police? HSI, FBI, ICE, ATF? not clearly identify themselves verbally and with clearly marked uniforms when breeching a residence? What century is this? What country is this? What? They need their true identities protected from the gangs of Lamorinda that might retaliate? In WTF universe does that ring true? This is where fascism begins.

  6. I’m thankful the men and women in Law Enforcement are safe and everyone in the beautiful community of Moraga.
We need to thank all men and women for their hard work, dedication 🚔🙏🏻

    • Uh, sorry but nope. There are a significant number of “law enforcement” that are now actively participating in snatching innocent people off the street and in some casing literally sending them to a concentration camp being funded by US tax dollars. Yes, it’s not the majority of law enforcement but it doesn’t take a majority to turn public opinion.

    Update??

HSI (guns drawn) just terrorized a mother and daughter in OK and seized property and damaged property despite the fact that the persons they were after were not living at that address. What is this agency and are they accountable to anyone? How do you get your wrongfully seized currency and phones back and your broken door, etc. fixed for a mistaken crash entry like that?

    These are worrisome times.

      • Well, I don’t think that asking them for transparency will yield results because they may be serving as someone’s de facto private militia and not operating under the law. Wear your hard hats. Well, the new guys anyway. Old timers can go with their trusty leather helmets.

        • We believe in transparency. We’re under no delusion that everyone else does, too. There’s work to be done.
