Various police agencies combined resources in a widespread search across Walnut Creek Wednesday after a man allegedly burglarized at least one residence, carjacked one car and allegedly stole another – managing to elude police air and ground units for at least an hour before he was caught.

Police later said 23-year-old Sean White of Pittsburg was the man who went on an afternoon crime spree around Walnut Creek on Wednesday, breaking into a garage and threatening an occupant  with a hammer, carjacking someone else, then finally stealing a landscaper’s van before being arrested.

White was eventually tased and taken into custody shortly before 3 p.m.

He is suspected of burglarizing a home in the 1400 block of Treat Boulevard, carjacking a Toyota later found abandoned in the city, and taking a white Econoline work truck.

The man is also suspected of allegedly following a woman into her garage on Birch Drive at approximately 1:30 p.m., carrying a hammer and reportedly attempting to take her keys.
