Fire Claims One Home, Damages Another In Alamo Saturday

Alamo4

A fire believed to have started at or near a home in the 100 block of Alamo Ranch Road gutted one residence and damaged another when flames spread into adjacent grass land and took off, ultimately singeing more than 4 acres of adjacent grass land.

Dozens of firefighters were directed in to fight the fast-moving blaze, with firefighters and police going door to door to recommend residents evacuate. We have no hard count of how many people left their homes, some opted to shelter in place.

The fire was reported shortly before 3 p.m. and was eventually stopped and brought under control – in at least one case with neighbors working alongside fire crews on the fire line – at approximately 5 p.m.
