UPDATE: 9:50 a.m. – Suspect in custody. Being treated for dog bite at 92 Orchard Court.
Orinda police officers and a rattled homeowner embarked on a search for a man reportedly found helping himself to some items inside a home in the 200 block of Crestview Drive Tuesday.
Apparently the homeowner encountered the man in her bathroom at approximately 8:50 a.m., reportedly as he was taking clothing and a backpack from the residence.
UPDATE: 9:40 a.m. – Units closing in on subject, who may be changing clothes – currently in army green pants and hat, shirtless. In the area of Orchard Road.
The man reportedly attempted to explain his presence by saying he was on foot in the area and needed a few things.
On Friday, Sept. 17, Sheriff’s spokesman Jimmy Lee identified the alleged intruder as 32-year-old Piercen Hicks, current address unknown. Hicks was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on charges that include burglary, theft, and resisting arrest. He is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail, Lee said.
