An assistant superintendent for the Livermore school district reported missing by his family last month has been found dead near Walker Lake in western Nevada, police confirmed Thursday.
San Ramon resident Michael Biondi, 52, was last seen in Livermore on Sept. 22. His car was reportedly tracked as Biondi drove east to Nevada and on to Walker Lake, where his body was located after Biondi met his death under unspecified circumstances.
Biondi had been serving as assistant superintendent of educational services with the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District. Prior to that, the married father of three was the principal at Coyote Creek Elementary School in San Ramon before leaving to work for the San Mateo-Foster City School District in 2015.
The Mineral County Sheriff’s Office and District Attorney’s Office are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding Biondi’s death.
Pretty sure that’s Olympic gold medalist Matt Biondi’s little brother. Terribly sad.
Condolences and prayers for his family.
Well known family with ties to Moraga and Cal. So very sad.
There are so many people in so much pain.
It is Matt Biondi’s younger brother. I went to middles school, high school and Cal with both Matt and Mike. Such a nice family! It’s a heartbreaking story.
So sad. So sorry.
Strength and the energy to endure to this family.
