Man Dead After Martinez Crash Thursday Night

A 37-year-old man died when his passenger car collided with a parked semi truck in the 800 block of Howe Rd. Thursday, according to Martinez police. Sgt. Patrick Salamid said the crash was reported at 10 p.m.

The unidentified victim was unresponsive and had to be extricated from the vehicle by responding Contra Costa County Consolidated Fire personnel.

The man was transported to the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center Martinez, where he was pronounced deceased.  No other victims were located and investigation indicated the victim was the sole occupant of the car at the time of the collision, police said. 

The investigation is in the preliminary stages and the victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
