The armed robbery of a Benicia CVS store touched off a pursuit into Contra Costa County and a massive search after three suspects ran from their grey Nissan Altima and fled into the 2600 block of Contra Costa Boulevard in Pleasant Hill.

All three suspects were reported in custody by 1:25 p.m.

Police air and ground assets swarmed into the area shortly after the trio – described as a white female driver and two black male passengers – abandoned their car and tried to hijack another in the area of Monument and Contra Costa Boulevard around noon.

Passersby say the female driver appears to have been detained by police with a search on for her alleged accomplices, who fled into the surrounding neighborhood.

At least one of the two men is believed armed, possibly with a pistol of unknown type.

Drivers may want to avoid the area as police harden their perimeter.

Police have sealed off the Boulevard Apartments on Contra Costa Boulevard after at least one of the suspects was seen running into the complex.
