Walnut Creek police moved quickly to seal off the area of Minert and Arkell roads in their city early Saturday after a suspected car thief bolted from a traffic stop and fled into the surrounding neighborhood.

Residents in the area were advised to stay in their homes as police searched for the suspect shortly after the incident was reported at 12:28 a.m.

The man is described as a white male, 6′ tall, thin, last seen wearing blue jeans. Officers were believed to have called for a canine team from a neighboring agency to help them in their search.
