Moragan Dies Of Injuries Received In Oct. 30 House Fire

Moragan James Rader Lewis, born May 1, 1955 and a local business man and resident his entire life, succumbed to injuries suffered during a fire at his home on October 30, 2017, dying of those injuries the following day at the UC Davis Burn Unit.

Mr. Lewis attended Rheem, Los Perales, JMIS, Miramonte High School and earned a BS from UC Berkeley. He started Bayseng Spice Co. in 1978 and remained active in business over the course of his life.

He was a published author with UC Berkeley for his invention of the vacuum dehydration system, a procedure that dramatically improved the quality of dried bay leaves.

Jim will forever be remembered for his love of life, passion, fervor, intelligence, creativity and determination who was a kind and gentle soul. Memorial Service is on November 12th at 1 p.m. at the Lafayette United Methodist Church at 955 Moraga Rd, Lafayette.
