The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office has filed a charge against a Manteca woman in connection with a May 5, 2015 car-bicycle accident that claimed the life of a Danville man.
At 4:37 p.m. on May 5, 2015, a car being driven by Alyssa Densmore, 26, was traveling north on Crow Canyon Road when it collided with bicyclist George Kaufer, 55. Kaufer was critically injured in the accident and later died of his injuries.
Danville Police Department’s Traffic Unit investigated the accident and forwarded all information on to the District Attorney’s office for consideration. After reviewing the investigation, the DA’s office charged Densmore with one count of misdemeanor Vehicular Manslaughter.
With all the bicycles on the road I’m surprised this doesn’t happen more often.
Awful. One life ended. Others ruined. All for a minutes inattention.
Drove past this after it happened. tremendously sad
With another one just this week. I think we need to start thinking about dedicated cycling areas.
Bike lanes don’t work. Can cars and bikes coexist on the road??
There has to be a better way to do this……
Yes so many lives touched by these tragedies. Condolences to the families and we do hope justice can be found.
