E-Bike Wolfpack Rides Through Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill
Editor;
I don’t know who this says more about — the kids or their parents.
We ventured out into downtown Pleasant Hill and Walnut Creek recently and encountered a large group of kids on e-bikes on both occasions. These kids (about 7 in one group and 5 in the other) proceeded to swarm us and other people in the area, riding aggressively and coming alarmingly close to walkers in the area.
I know we’re in an informational stage with kids at the moment with cities trying to reach kids with information on bike safety etc. That approach doesn’t appear to be working. We and others were taunted and insulted and flipped off when we asked the kids to be more considerate.
I’m not here to whine about the state of our youth today but I have to say seeing it up close and personal was eye opening, especially with kids in their early teens and as young as 10 or 11 swearing and hurling abusive language at adults.
I sincerely hope parents are able to take better control of their kids and take a little more control before someone is hurt. Has anyone else encountered these groups and does anyone know what actions the cities are taking against them?
Sincerely,
Roger Penn Foster/Berkeley
