Lafayette Arrests Draw Attention Saturday

Locals in the area of the 3500 block of Mt. Diablo Boulevard on Saturday got an up close and personal view of a high-risk traffic stop and arrest – several officers swarming the occupants of a blue sedan while a police helicopter orbited overhead.

Police have not formally addressed the incident, reported at about 3:45pm when a car occupied by two women suspected of multiple local robberies was spotted and stopped in the area. Both women were arrested at gunpoint while the helicopter maintained an overwatch position in case a pursuit was initiated.

The names of the arrested were not released.
