Spirited chase from Concord to Benicia drew a lot of police and some air support as the operator of a white pickup truck made a break for the border Thursday night – with police hot on his tail.

White knuckle speeds, a spike-stripping, a foot bail and eventual arrest in Benicia – we think for suspicion of possession of a stolen car. No ID on the suspect.

This one was interesting in that Flashers and Readers from Concord to Benicia chipped in with their portion of the chase they witnessed as it threaded its way across through Concord, onto northbound I680, across the bridge and into a neighborhood in Benicia, where the truck finally came to a stop.

Readers furnished video of the pursuit on I680 and when it came to a halt in the area of 3rd and K streets around 10:25pm.

  1. I feel sorry for people who get their vehicles stolen! From what I hear these car thieves don’t usually spend time in jail. My heart goes out to the victims. A coworker of mine had both their family cars stolen within a week of each other while in Oakland. It was a great hardship for them! The California laws and judicial system needs to start caring about the real people who are the victims., and stop deferring to the supposed poor Criminal with their supposed hard lives.
