Tesla Found On Fire In Martinez Sunday; Possible Arson

Passersby reported a Model S Tesla smoking and apparently on fire in the Martinez WalMart parking lot Sunday, firefighters arriving quickly to extinguish a blaze in the passenger compartment while investigators tracked reports of someone possibly setting the fire intentionally.

The vehicle was reported burning at 2:58 p.m., moments after investigators were notified that a woman had been seen placing something inside the car.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze. There was no immediate word if the woman reportedly seen near the vehicle prior to the fire was located.

Fire and foam damage to the car appeared extensive though there was no official word as to cost.

    I wonder if this is politically motivated?
    Even though Elon Musk was once the hero of the liberal leaning left- he has lost total favor with them once he teamed up with Trump. So I wonder if this is some kind of retribution against both of them? Are we in for more like it? ( remember about 10 years ago radicals were setting SUVs on fire)

      Possible. Also possible: an angry girlfriend. Frankly, a lot of scenarios come to mind.

    In all fairness, a better headline would be “Car Found on Fire in Martinez.” For some reason, the public loves to see the words Tesla and Fire together, perhaps to confirm some misperception that EVs are prone to fire (they’re not).
