Amid High Fire Danger, Man Arrested For Trying To Set Fire To A Gas Station

A man was arrested shortly after witnesses allegedly saw him trying to ignite a trash bin adjacent to the fuel pump of a Chevron station in Walnut Creek Wednesday night.

Firefighters quickly extinguished an active fire found in the bin shortly after witnesses reported seeing the man attempting to light refuse with a hand-held lighter at 10:10pm.

Police arrived and were eventually able to locate the man, whose name has not been released, after witnesses pointed him out to officers.
