Fatal Midnight Motorcycle Crash On Highway 24 In Orinda Saturday

A motorcyclist was killed in a 2-vehicle collision on westbound Highway 24 east of St. Stephens early Saturday morning, the freeway closing briefly to facilitate a CHP investigation into the cause.

Contra Costa CHP officers responded to reports of a crash involving a BMW SUV and a motorcyclist located on westbound SR-24, east of Saint Stephens Drive. Officers determined that a BMW, with one adult male occupant, and an adult male motorcyclist were traveling westbound on SR-24 when the vehicles collided.

The driver of the motorcycle sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the BMW was not injured. During the on scene investigation, it was determined the driver of the BMW was DUI, and was subsequently arrested for DUI related charges.

    Our friend died as a result of this particular accident. Please release the name of the driver!!! The people deserve to know who did this about about great male 30 year old rider that lost his life. I’m not releasing the name because of respect to the family.

      The deceased’s name is Marco. It was in the news. He seems like a great guy. God rest his soul.
