A California Highway Patrol officer was treated for a head wound after his car crashed and caught fire during a high-speed chase on eastbound Highway 24 near Wilder Sunday morning.
The officer was in pursuit of a vehicle wanted for traffic violations when the crash occurred at approximately 2:15 a.m.
All eastbound lanes of the freeway were closed and a CHP helicopter summoned, landing on the freeway to evacuate the injured officer.
The situation was further complicated when ammunition in the overturned and burning cruiser began to explode – though no one was reported injured.
Saw the glow.
I’m glad the officer is ok and a grateful for the CHP’s work keeping us safe.
So glad there were no major injuries.
How many of these vehicles are just too old to be used?
From what I know the car was brand new.
