From Contra Costa Health:

Contra Costa Health (CCH) invites the public to a meeting on Sept. 25 to offer comment on a recently completed toxicology report studying how a November 2022 hazardous materials release from Martinez Refining Company (MRC) affected soil in the surrounding community.

The report, prepared by consultant TRC, is available in electronic format here, with links also available in the Latest Information section at cchealth.org/hazmat.

The investigation, conducted under the direction of the MRC Oversight Committee, measured soil samples taken from 14 public spaces in the greater Martinez area following the Nov. 24-25, 2022 release of spent catalyst from the refinery.

The investigation did not find elevated levels of harmful metals in the soil samples that could be attributed to the release.

The meeting begins at 6 p.m. on Monday, September 25, at 1025 Escobar, Room 110 in Martinez, CA 94553. Attendees may also attend via Zoom by following this link: https://zoom.us/j/97867911814.

Written comments about the report can also be submitted through October 12, 2023 to CCH’s Hazardous Materials Programs by emailing them to hazmat.arpteam@cchealth.org or mailing them, Attn Michael Dossey, to Contra Costa Health Hazardous Materials Programs, 4585 Pacheco Boulevard, Suite 100, Martinez CA 94553.
