Tensions are high as a fire burns in the very brittle hills above Pacheco Tonight.
Numerous calls of a black smoke column came in about 8:15 PM above Pacheco Blvd near Blum Rd, just above homes, and businesses. The calm wind and cooler temps helped fire crews surround the blaze as it topped 40′ trees, and caused explosions.
This was just above the Post Office here. injuries not known, if any. Fires like this have become a constant issue with homeless living in these rural settings. People are already on edge here with the grass dry, and it appears no fire break here.
I was trying to lip read that fire fighter — he didn’t seem very happy.
Is anyone compiling data on causes of local fires? How many are started intentionally, by accident, discarded cigarettes, campfires? This data is critical and should be released to the public.
