One person was killed and another seriously injured after the car they were in struck the center divide of eastbound Highway 24 west of Oak Hill Road and crashed into the trees lining the shoulder.
The crash was reported at 10:21 a.m. with crews at the scene and working to free a victim trapped in the wreckage of the vehicle. The coroner has been called to the scene.
CHP investigators said their officers were advised of a solo vehicle crash on eastbound SR-24, near Oak Hill Road. A Toyota Yaris, occupied by one driver and one passenger, was traveling eastbound on SR-24 when it left the roadway and collided with a tree in the center median.
CHP and emergency personnel arrived on scene and the adult male passenger was pronounced deceased. The adult female driver was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
