Police in Walnut Creek announced the filing of charges against two men who allegedly pistol-whipped and attempted to steal a Rolex watch from a married coupe at the Ygnacio Plaza center Thursday.
The charges were brought against Shaune Rogers, 34, and David Lopez, 33, both from Richmond. The pair remain in custody pending court appearances August 15.
According to police, Rogers, who is being held on $1 million bail, was charged with conspiracy, attempted robbery, assault with a deadly weapon (firearm), felon in possession of a firearm, assault with a deadly weapon (vehicle), and hit and run, with enhancements.
Lopez, in custody on $940,000 bail, was charged with conspiracy, attempted robbery, assault with a deadly weapon (firearm), and being a felon in possession of a firearm, with enhancements.
Police say the victims are a married couple who were returning to their vehicle after eating at a local restaurant in the Plaza.
Rogers, Jr. and Lopez approached the couple with handguns drawn and demanded a silver and gold Rolex watch from the male victim. After a struggle, both Rogers, Jr, and Lopez repeatedly struck the victim on the head with their weapons. He was treated for his injuries at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek.
While the suspects were attempting to flee in a stolen car, the female victim used her SUV to block them from leaving. Her vehicle was rammed several times before Rogers, Jr and Lopez drove off.
Let’s hope a jury and judge put them away for a long time, if found guilty.

I am no fan of Becton, but those are serious charges, filed quickly, and bail is definitely on the high side.
Ain’t his first time. https://www.localcrimenews.com/welcome/detail/75349660/shaune-rogers-arrest.html
Nor his 2nd time. https://www.mercurynews.com/2013/11/18/richmond-felon-charged-in-crash-that-injured-two-women/
@Watcher-if you look at his priors and when they took place one has to ask does the CA system ever hold people? The June arrest should have put him away for a decent amount of time..just the parole violation for firearm you’d think would have kept him in…
I thought people might reconsider the whole watch thing but no.
What, no aggravated battery charge for the pistol-whipping?
Good question. Rolexes are wind-up, mechanically powered instruments. They are not powered by a battery, aggravated or otherwise.
