Police in Benicia are investigating the apparent homicide of a man working at a market in the 2000 block of Columbus Parkway Tuesday.
The victim was identified as Bahadur Singh, a well known and respected local business owner.
Officers responding to an alarm call at the business at 10:04 p.m. – minutes after the store was due to close – found Singh down and unresponsive with an apparent gunshot wound to the upper chest inside the store.
Responding paramedics pronounced Singh deceased at the scene, according to police. No description of the suspect is available, though a fleeting image of a person running from the scene was captured on nearby surveillance cameras.
Police wrote that “at this point in the investigation we believe that the shooting happened during a suspected robbery.”
“We are deeply saddened by this senseless violence that happened in our community,” Chief Mike Greene said. “We have detectives and every available resources working to identify the suspect.”
Working men and women have been targeted and victimized in so many way these past two years. I hope they are able to bring the person responsible to justice soon.
One of the most dangerous jobs in America in my opinion.
It sure has been in recent years.
A terrible tragedy, hopefully the suspects will be caught. 108RS

Senseless and stupid. A man’s life was taken and for what?
