Three air ambulances and multiple ground ambulances were called to help transfer several victims from a serious injury crash on Willow Pass Road at Port Chicago Highway early Sunday morning.
Contra Costa County Fire Protection District helicopters and a California Highway Patrol aircraft were kept busy shuttling 7 victims to local hospitals with various injuries, some serious.
One of the involved cars was traveling north on Port Chicago Highway while a second was driving west on Willow Pass when they collided – one of the vehicles catching fire.
The intersection was closed for approximately three hours as the injured were transported and the wreckage removed.
We’ll update this story with additional information as we get it. The 2-car crash was reported at 12:18 a.m.
Not a good start for Halloween…terror in real life….hope the involved recover quickly and completely.
Nice sentiment, Jeff… well expressed. We had our fingers crossed through this one…
Seems like they could have walked the less seriously injured over to John Muir???
You don’t walk anyone with an injury, unless you want to further the injury. The level of ignorance.
Yep. Ignorance. Metaphorical references are difficult for some.
I hope its quiet tonight.
We do, too, Alex.
did you find that party in Orinda?
Couple of real ragers in Lamorinda last night and we weren’t invited to any of them…
Pretty crazy. Those cars were totalled.
Did you get video??? My neighbor said she’d be sending you some. All those helicopters at once were crazy.
We’ve gotten some, L. Much of it had technical or licensing issues (music). Always grateful to get stuff from the readership…
