COVID Outbreak Among Las Lomas High School Students; Off-Campus Party Suspected

Administrators at Las Lomas High School in Walnut Creek are reportedly working with county health officials to trace 20 confirmed cases of COVID-19 recently discovered among their students, believed to have been spread during a large off-campus party.

To date, no cases of the virus are believed to have occurred as a result of on-campus contact among students at the school.

Students and parents self-reported the cases with school officials contacting other parents about the outbreak earlier in the week. School officials were not immediately available to confirm reports of the exposure.

The school’s athletic programs were reportedly shut down early in the week.

A text message from school principal Tiffany Benson forwarded to this site read: “Currently, we have 20 confirmed positive cases. I appreciate the honesty of students and parents for self-reporting this as it helps keep our entire community safe. We still have no cases of transmission on campus. We are working with the Contra Costa Health Office and are both working on contact tracing, and our campus precautions are proving successful and stopping spread on campus. At this point, students have not been exposed in their classrooms.”

Boys varsity soccer season is toast. Varsity baseball and basketball and boys volleyball are all on hold but basically toast. Hope everyone had a good time at the party!

Supposedly 12 cases are on the girls soccer team. My daughter’s soccer team played their team after the party, perhaps before the cases were confirmed. But not one word to our school or soccer team about potentially exposing our girls. We heard about this through the grape vine.

From your facebook: “Busy night with people – lots of people, apparently, and in large numbers – out and about or partying very hard. It’s almost as if the All Clear has been given for some. And they’re making up for lost time.”

According to my Grandson, this was all caused by a party held by the Baseball team. This is based on talk from his friend on the team and the fact that that friend has disappeared from his English class. It’s not the kids petrie dish effect that is in question, I want to know who’s house was this party at? And how can those parents be so stupid?

It’s pretty clear that a good third of the people in this country are incapable of making good decisions, but my opinion may not be equal to other opinions. It’s befuddling.
