Three men were killed when the car they were in veered off SR24 and ran into a tree just east of Camino Pablo early Saturday morning.
The 3:07 a.m. crash remains under investigation, though officers determined that a 31-year-old Oakland man and a 22-year-old from Hayward – both passengers in the 2009 Nissan Versa – died in the crash. The driver could not be immediately identified.
Investigators determined the Nissan was traveling westbound at an undetermined speed when it suddenly veered completely off the roadway and into the trees bordering the highway – striking one of them head-on.
All three men were still inside the Nissan when CHP and emergency personnel arrived. All three were pronounced deceased at the scene.
At this time it is unknown if alcohol or drug impairment were a factor in the collision but it remains under investigation, according to the CHP. Anyone witnessing the crash or the events leading up to it is asked to call the CHP in Martinez at 925-646-4980.
Trying to make it home.
More bad news for more families — just in time for Christmas.
Saw the lights. The police keep coming back. Very sad for the families.
Condolences
So many crashes lately. Are there more cars on the roads or is our driving getting worse?
Life is precious and fragile. It doesn’t take much to lose it.
Prayers for their families.
