Climate activists gathered outside Chevron’s corporate headquarters in San Ramon Friday morning following earlier, worldwide condemnation of the continued use of fossil fuels.
Organizers said about 400 people were expected to participate.
Organizers said the protest would last from 9 a.m. to noon.
I really don’t think all of your Facebook commenters are “Chevron employees.” It’s human nature to be annoyed by protestors (protesting is asinine and ineffectual) and it’s human nature to be annoyed by hypocrites. Fossil fuel causes pollution, and so does driving your gas guzzling SUV. That’s what the readers seem to be saying.
Sure. Fine. The commenting stream often runs in streaks. It’s usually a bit more diverse… as some readers noted. But the stream runs where it may.
Danielle, I find it annoying that you read the comments on facebook, yet believe yourself to be too good to have your own facebook profile, so instead respond to my comment here with a fake name. Chevron seemed to be attempting damage control and others apparently followed along. When you see people posting comments such as “It’s among the greatest companies on the planet, and one of the few that actually care for the planet.” you should know better. None of those commenters knew what the protesters were driving. They were just trying to take the focus off Chevron and apparently succeeded.
