Drift smoke from fires in outlying counties and a fresh 25+ acre fire on Willow Pass Road in Concord dumped large amounts of smoke into the 24/680 Monday – prompting dozens of calls from concerned citizens sure a new fire had broken out locally.
This site began receiving inquiries about the possibility of a local fire about mid-morning, as drift smoke began to reach us and settle over the valley. We posted what we knew of local conditions and the current fire conditions on our Facebook page.
Local authorities posted roughly the same messaging at around noon Monday. For breaking news incidents – including fires – sign up for our Flash Alerts or watch our Social Media accounts for updates.
