Martinez, Calif. – On February 19, Hilario Martinez Jr. pleaded guilty to seven felonies involving sex trafficking, pimping and threatening multiple female victims, one of whom was a minor who ran away from home. Judge David Goldstein accepted Martinez Jr’s disposition and the 33-year-old defendant was sentenced to 20 years in state prison. Martinez Jr. will also have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
Martinez Jr. brazenly used social media to promote himself as a pimp under the monikers “Kash” and “KashOnly” to recruit victims as part of his criminal activities. He trafficked and pimped his victims in hotels across the Bay Area, as well as in Reno, Nevada.
Contra Costa County Deputy District Attorneys Dana Filkowski and Jay Melaas prosecuted the case on behalf of the People. Specifically, the case was a success due to the immense efforts by former Pittsburg Police Department’s Louise Reeves’ efforts. Our Office’s victim advocates also supported the victims during this case.
“The success of this prosecution was the direct result of coordinated investigations conducted during 2016 and 2017 by police departments in Pittsburg, Antioch, Concord, and Milpitas,” said DDA Filkowski, Supervisor of the Office’s Human Trafficking Unit. “This case underscores the importance of collaboration among law enforcement agencies – trafficking does not respect jurisdictional boundaries.”
