A Pittsburg man was seriously injured and later died from injuries suffered in an intense, rollover crash on westbound Highway 24 west of St. Stephens in Orinda Sunday night.
The 22-year-old victim, later identified as Bobby Jones, was driving his Kia Spectra sedan when for reasons still unexplained he veered the Kia to the right and off the roadway – striking an electrical box and chain link fence and overturning the car. Jones was ejected and sustained major, life-threatening injuries, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP Off. Brandon Correia said Jones was transported to John Muir Hospital but died at the hospital a few hours later.Â
This collision is still under investigation and Off. Correia asked if anyone witnessed it or the events leading up to it, to contact Contra Costa CHP in Martinez, (925) 646-4980.
Did they make it? It looked bad.
Unfortunately not, Dan.
Thought it might be but hoped for the best,
