ED: First, a big doff of the Fedora to our digital colleagues in arms at EastCountyToday for giving us the heads up on this story. Second, what’s with all the doggies jumping into police cars lately?
Here we go:
Antioch Police announced on Facebook Saturday that Officer Amiri was performing a routine traffic stop around 1:00 am when a French Bulldog jumped into his patrol vehicle.
After taking the dog to Animal Services, it was discovered the dog had a microchip and the owner was informed their dog was safe and would be returned.
The dog, out of Orinda, had been missing since November 9 of 2015.
Dognapping?
The third-most frequently stolen in the United States according to the American Kennel Club
I’m coming home!
Smart puppy!
Good news! I wonder who is more happy that she’s coming home? Dog or Family?
If that dog could only talk.
Awwww!!!!
There was another incident?

“We found her. In a backyard… she looked like she wanted to come home with us……”
That’s great!
Good story!
I think we should start chipping the dognappers.
I think they should start clipping dognappers… if you know what I mean.
Nice to get everyone back together again!
What kind of a creep would steal someone’s dog?
Why did the police take the dog though? Was the driver arrested? Why didn’t they just write a ticket and give the dog back?
Great that they didn’t but there’s more to the story.
Of course there’s more to the story, but as long as they got their dog back. The police don’t owe the general public any explanation. They’re not in the “full disclosure” business. They keep things close to their vest.
