A Moraga resident called police at 3:05 a.m. today, Thursday, to report that his motorcycle had just been stolen from the 300 block of Calle La Montana and was being driven away from the location. Moraga police immediately responded and an officer located the stolen motorcycle being driven on Campolindo Drive.
The officer attempted to stop the vehicle but the suspect did not yield to the officer and fled south on Moraga Road, police said. The suspect then led officers on a pursuit through town before he lost control of the motorcycle on Canyon Road at Country Club Drive. The suspect fled on foot for a short distance before being taken into custody. The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Shawn
Ham of Antioch, was later booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on charges of motor vehicle theft and felony evading, with additional charges pending of possession of heroin and driving on a suspended license. The victim was able to recover his motorcycle at the scene and ride it home, police said.
The reporting party in this incident was alert to the sound of his motorcycle being started, which led to him to calling the police and ultimately to the arrest of the suspect and the recovery of the motorcycle, according to investigators. The Moraga Police Department stresses the importance of remaining alert to any suspicious behavior in the community and reporting any suspicious activity to the Moraga Police Department.

Remind me to stay away from heroin if I want to retain a youthful appearance!
Great work. Now make him run through the city so we can line up and throw things at him.
I am encouraged to see the detective on this particular case is named Mooney!
@Kenny – Can’t go wrong with an Irishman on the case!
Gee, imagine that someone with a neck-tattoo would do such a thing!
Seriously…. Thank You Moraga Police Department for your constant vigilance in keeping the community safe!
What – they don’t have motorcyles to steal in Antioch?
I would have given good money to have seen his face when he came to Canyon Bridge.
@Michael – And for a video! Yes. He made it past what is left of the sink hole but the Tottery Bridge brought him down…
Sean Ham sounds like a bogus name. I think he’s full of baloney…
So — how did he get to Moraga???
This is getting crazy.
@ Bethany Ann – this is my question as well.
How did he get to Moraga? He probably had a partner in crime. Why do they come to Lamorinda to steal? We have nice things.
Sometimes you have to think outside of the box.
@Danielle – … as long as they don’t steal the box, we’re down with that!
