At about 10 a.m. Tuesday, Martinez Police Officers responded to the railroad tracks in the 400 block of Ferry St. for a report of a person that had been hit by a train
Officers located an adult female laying on the ground with unknown injuries, next to a stopped Amtrak train. The woman had a dog with her and the dog was not injured, according to police.
It was reported that the woman attempted to cross the railroad tracks on Ferry St. as an Amtrak train approached. She was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries.
Anyone who may have witnessed this incident is encouraged to telephone the Martinez Police Department at (925) 372-3440.
Any questions can be directed to the on duty watch commander at (925) 372-3436.
I hope she’s ok, although I can’t imagine how anyone survives being hit by a train.
