Walnut Creek Police and U.S. Postal Inspectors are investigating the recent activity of three Pittsburg residents arrested Thursday as they were seen leaving a residence under surveillance by officers.
Walnut Creek Police Officers were surveilling a residence in the 200 block of West Buchanan Road at approximately 4:20 p.m. in an attempt to serve an arrest warrant on Pittsburg resident Amanda Bruntz for identity theft and burglary. Bruntz was seen leaving the residence in a vehicle, police said, and the car was subsequently pulled over and Bruntz arrested.
At the time of her arrest, Bruntz was also allegedly in possession of additional items of identity theft. With her in the car were Joshua Tanasescu and Michael Woodmansee, officers said. Tanasescu had a warrant for his arrest for auto theft and was also found to be in possession of a controlled substance. Woodmansee was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and burglary tools, according to investigators.
Probable cause was developed to believe Bruntz and Woodmansee were involved in mail theft and the United State Postal Inspection Service was called to the location to assist in the search for further evidence. A search warrant was served at the residence and large amounts of mail from throughout the county was allegedly recovered, along with additional instrumentalities of identity theft and personal identifying information of others.
All three subjects were arrested for the above listed charges with additional charges pending review by the District Attorney.
I think I saw them on Criminal Apprentice just the other night.
Gentleman on the left doesn’t look happy.
Do they know what neighborhoods they were working? We we missing a couple of packages over Christmas
So much of this going on out there.
The nice thing is that when they close in and capture a group of these people they are able to clear up so many local crimes because these perps generally diversify and are doing all kinds of crime to support a habit.
It was about time to catch these criminals! Good job
Yes, good work police, in catching these thieves. Thank you!
Unfortunately ,with our overly kind Criminal Justice System, they’re probably out of jail already and will probably be cruising the neighborhood tonight to do more crimes. Didn’t the article indicate that they were already out on probation or had warrants for their arrest? We Citizens need to be ever vigilant.
