Walnut Creek Police arrested an Antioch man after a resident called the department to report a group of men looking into mailboxes in their neighborhood Tuesday.
Police said Charlie Patterson, 30, of Antioch, was taken into custody on suspicion of stealing mail.
Investigators said they received a call from a citizen at 6:58 a.m. Tuesday with officers swarming into the area and locating one man, identified as Patterson, as he was walking on Oak Road.
Police said Patterson was determined to be in possession of stolen mail from several residences in Walnut Creek, as well as burglary tools. He was booked at the Martinez Detention Facility on multiple charges including identity theft, mail theft, possession of stolen property and possession of burglary tools.
Officers credited the arrest to the resident, who they said gave a detailed description and direction of travel to police dispatchers.
For emergencies always call 911 and for non-emergencies call (925) 943-5844.
No mail in Antioch to steal?
Another one? Dickwad….
Finding discarded piles of mail in the street. It seems to be getting even more rampant.
Just put a rattler in my mailbox and warned my mailman.
It is great that another observant resident reported suspicious activity to the police and it paid off with another arrest.
Suspicious is suspicious report it and let the police check it out.
Yeh, what Greg said. Damn we’re getting tired of these people. And what’s up with Antioch? Every one I ever met from there was a good person who would do anything for you. Something going on up there we haven’t heard about????
