Featured Event: Martinez – 50th Year Remembrance – Yuba City High School Choir Bus Accident – May 21

On May 21, 1976, a school bus taking a choir from Yuba City High School to Orinda took the Marina Vista Avenue off-ramp in Martinez, struck a guardrail, left the elevated roadway, and landed upside down. In all, 27 students, and an adult advisor were killed. 24 others were injured.

The ceremony will include a tribute to the surviving students, recognition of the first responders, medical staff, and Shell refinery personnel, and thanks to the Martinez community.
