An apparent vehicle fire crept into a 3-story residence on Orinda View Road Sunday, escalating the fire response to 2-alarms and causing significant damage to the structure before the bulk of the blaze was brought under control at 3:13 a.m.

The blaze was reported at 2:29 a.m. and quickly escalated to 2-alarms after Moraga-Orinda Fire Protection District firefighters arriving on scene were met with heavy smoke and fire from the garage and attic area. Nearby homeowners were notified and some evacuations were made though the area’s low-density construction made further evacuations unnecessary.

No injuries were reported.

UPDATE: This fire re-kindled at 12:48a.m. Sunday, sending new smoke and flames into the air. Crews were dispatched and a new fire attack mounted.

  1. My house reignited only a year ago in Walnut Creek. What up with this? So upsetting to see this happen to others.. What happened to checking the structure afterwards on the hour? In our situation family members pleaded with the fire department to not leave. Hours later it’s on fire again.
