No Official Word Yet On Assault/Arrest Near Concord BART Friday
We’re attempting to follow up on a Flash Alert we issued after receiving word of a possible assault on an elderly person at Concord BART Friday afternoon but so far we haven’t heard anything back from police or BART officials.
Witnesses say reports of an assault by a teen on an older man at the station at 4:41 pm Friday – coupled with the teen’s arrest a short time later – was actually far different than initially presented.
We’re told the older male victim actually initiated the altercation, hurling racial epithets in the teen’s direction and eventually spitting at him when the younger man objected, the older man striking the youth when an exchange of words eventually escalated into blows.
Customers on the platform at the time said the teen left when a BART official informed them police had been called, walking on Grant Street towards Todos Santos Plaza.
Two Concord PD units were closing in on the youth, one stopping abruptly while the reportedly struck the youth’s leg about hip height and brought him down. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment and it is not known at this time if any charges were brought against either of the parties involved.
