Fuel Prices Have 24/680 Residents Digging Deeper

Sign of the times...

As the official – or perhaps semi-official – aggregators of life here in the 24/680 we’ve been hearing complaints/reports of rising – just about everything – prices for some time.

This has inspired both online and offline commentary from business people and ordinary folk trying to navigate the grocery aisles and fuel pumps that power us all.

We’re hearing of dramatic cutbacks and cost-cutting efforts as well as, well, plaintive entreaties from restauranteurs and other business owners battling logistics issues and declining customer interest as things begin to spiral.

A reader spotted this latest indicator of how high costs have gotten in Walnut Creek last night. Folks appear to be keeping an eye on their bottom line.

Keeping an eye on the bottom line is wise. Some think Chevron and Shell are worth it, while others say gas is gas. To each his own.

Those gasolines from Chevron and Shell are not worth it anymore over the other more reasonable competition. I fill up at that Orinda budget station that always has the lowest price in the area. Used them for years, never had any issues with performance or engine cleanliness on any of my cars! I will though, once a year by a small container of the Chevron Techron fuel cleaner and put it in my car. About 10 bucks. That’s what Chevron brags about being in their gas. And yes, gas prices are high! But we were not much different for about a 2 to 3-year span under the last Administration …
so this is not something new , but this one is probably soon start lowering.

I don’t think Chevron or Shell was ever worth it, even when I worked at Chevron! I was asked why I never used my “employee discount” and I danced around it. I also get my gas at the budget station in Orinda and put Chevron Techron in every six months. Some of us know how to save money!

Check your bills before you pay at a restaurant these days. There are all sorts of fees being added. Don’t ask why business Is off because you’re overcharging your customers.

We’ve stopped going out. Haven’t been to a restaurant in ages worth what they were charging to eat there. Sorry to say it because we don’t want to see anyone fail, but afraid we’re going to see more going out of business signs in the near future.

Click and Clack, the Tappet Brothers, would not lie to you. Gas is gas.
