One person has apparently been shot and killed near the intersection of Buena Vista and Alvarado avenues in Walnut Creek. Neighbors reported hearing at least two shots fired in the area around midnight Wednesday.
Initial reports are that this was an officer-involved shooting with a Walnut Creek officer firing on a male subject, who was reportedly armed with an unknown type of weapon.
Residents in the area have reported hearing shouts before the gunfire broke out.
A News24/680 photographer confirms that one person is down in the street on Alvarado, with police combing adjacent yards in an apparent search for evidence. Three traffic cones believed to be tenting shell casings are in the street near where a body has been draped with a yellow tarp.
