Puppy Stolen In Boxing Day Theft Recovered, Returned To Family

A 10-week-old Yorkshire Terrier named “Tinkerbell” stolen from a family shopping at an Antioch Target store has been recovered and returned to its grateful humans.

An Antioch family reported being approached by two people who complimented them on the dog while the family shopped at a Target store in the 5700 Block of Lone Tree Way at 3:12p.m. on Dec. 26, the pair abruptly snatching the dog and fleeing the area by car.

Investigators determined the dog was a gift for the family’s 3-year-old daughter. Officers were able to identify the car used during the theft and developed information on two suspects, Isiah Kingstringer, 20, and Zoie Ledesma, 21.

On December 27, an Antioch police officer aware of the theft located the suspect’s car as it traveled through the city and conducted a traffic stop, subsequently towing the car as part of the investigation and arresting Kingstringer and Ledesma on warrants when they arrived at police headquarters to retrieve the car later that day.

Follow-up interviews with the suspects were able to determine Tinkerbell’s location with officers recovering the pup and returning her to her family.

Kingstringer and Ledesma were booked into the Contra Costa County Jail on the following charges:

• PC 487A(a) – Grand theft of an animal
• PC 532(a) – Theft by false pretenses
• PC 182(a)(1) – Conspiracy

The investigation into the theft is ongoing.

Ed. Note: Antioch is a bit out of our usual area of coverage but we were interested in the notion of people making off with someone’s dog. ContraCostaNews – who does cover Antioch more energetically – questioned the department’s release of such a story, referring to it as “fluff,” while not releasing information on “4 shootings, multiple robberies, assaults or other crimes.” CCNews says police are not informing the community about actual crime in their area. While we were glad to hear Tinkerbell was found and returned home, we hope officials are equally forthcoming about other crimes of note in their area.

  1. i am once again blocked from commenting on puppy stories using ANY browser as of 7:30 pm. for the last 4 weeks only Edge wasn’t working. Now it’s everything

    • To what end, Jeff? To make sure numbers back claims that crime is down? That schools and real estate remain attractive to parents/buyers? To give the narrative to police so we get a steady dose of “Tinkerbell” stories and not more serious crimes when they happen? And is this the work of “liberals” or “the right,” which appears to be favoring increased secrecy and less public scrutiny when it comes to policing/military actions. Why?

      • Sorry. I agree with Jeff!
After traveling quite abit lately, and watching the local news in each place, I see that the local media in the Bay Area is amazingly slanted! Even when traveling to areas like Monterey and Santa Barbara, their news does not ‘lead and promote the liberal dogmas as much is here.

        • No need to apologize for agreeing with someone’s position. People of like minds tend to agree with one another.

      • 24/680,

Yes, to keep crime numbers down, to let the liberal electeds and judges tell us what a fine
job they’re doing and keep their jobs.

Already tore into the new WCPD Chief at a council meeting about the poor recruiting efforts.

    • Liberals? Please educate yourself. In addition to the “everything is just fine” MAGA mantra that is permeating law enforcement with these feel good stories, also note the white-washing going on in our national parks, monuments, museums and other federal institutions etc as we speak.

  2. Since these two already had outstanding warrants, here’s hoping that this arrest will prevent some future crime. Becton let’s not allow these two to become career criminals.

    • Per the Antioch Herald:
“According to localcrimenews.com, this is the third arrest this year for Kingstringer, a Richmond resident, including by Alameda County Sheriff’s Deputies on June 30th for possession of marijuana for sale and on August 4th by Richmond Police for addict in possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm when not the registered owner and revocation of probation. He was also previously arrested in 2023 by BART Police for battery on transportation personnel with injury.

According to localcrimenews.com, Ledesma, a Hercules resident, was previously arrested twice in 2023 by Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Deputies for receiving stolen property – motor vehicle, taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent, driving without a license, failure to obey a peace officer and warrants or holds only.”

  3. Sadly, I read this one as the two 20 year olds stole the puppy for their 3 year old little girl as a gift. In 2026, I’ll endeavor to be less jaded. A reason to be sure would give me a boost!

  4. I have submitted daily since Dec 30 with zero success in actually getting posted. If this submission does gets posted, please alert the editor who is doggedly trying to resolve a technical issue with the website.
