Organizers are predicting sizable turnouts to dozens of planned protests against President Donald Trump and his administration across the Bay Area on Saturday, with the largest demonstrations expected in San Francisco and Walnut Creek.

The “No Kings” march and protest in San Francisco will begin at 2 p.m. in Sue Bierman Park in Embarcadero Plaza and end at Civic Center Plaza for a rally that starts at 3:30 p.m. A “human banner” is also expected on Ocean Beach.

Additional protests are planned in Pleasant Hill, San Jose, Redwood City, Novato, Benicia, Santa Rosa, Oakland, Livermore and Sacramento. A complete map of scheduled rallies can be found at https://www.nokings.org/#map.

Saturday’s protests will be the second “No Kings” day of demonstrations since Trump took office in January. The first drew tens of thousands of participants in the Bay Area.

Small counter-protests are expected.

    • C’mon… pretty good history of non-riotous behavior from these folks.

And have fun in the Big Sky, our old rodeo grounds.

    • Have you seen the Walnut Creek crowd? If so, you knowingly misrepresent its peaceful past. I’m hanging in the back with the feisty old ladies and gentlemen in their wheelchairs and walkers with their signs because I need to escape the sun. Walnut Creek is not Portland. The crowd will be LARGE and peaceful and LOUD with our indignation.

    • Walkers and baby strollers just being casually thrown around as weapons. Someone’s gonna end up needing a hip replacement.

  1. OH no.. that means in Walnut Creek they’ll be probably take over Broadway Plaza again! That just settles it for us: we were planning to go there for shopping and lunch tomorrow but probably best to stay away. Last time the protests took all the parking spots.

    • No, no. No worries! There will be a parking spot for you. Take BART. Stretch your legs and your voice. Come join the protest against king-rule. It’s not a May Day rally after all.

  2. Resistance
“the refusal to accept or comply with something; the attempt to prevent something by action or argument.”
    We refuse. LOL
I’m not sure who said it, but the operative reply to the bully’s demand is: MAKE ME.

  3. These same mostly elderly white liberals were quite docile when King Gavin unnessarily shut down the state during COVID. Small businesses were destroyed, children lost a full year or more of school, thousands died in hospitals without their families being allowed to visit them, etc etc . And now these same citizens allow themselves to be used by that same man who has done more to ruin my beautiful state, than anyone. To quote John Lydon, “Ever get the feeling you’ve been cheated?

    • Not docile. Rational. Nothing good happens in a pandemic. California handled it like every other modern country, and death rates were considerably lower than your dream places that acted as if it was business as usual.
