One person was killed when their car veered off Highway 24 and crashed in the area of 3322 Mount Diablo Boulevard in Lafayette early Saturday morning.
The driver was identified by Contra Costa County coroner’s officials Monday as a 39-year-old Walnut Creek man.
The car’s driver was killed when he left the eastbound lanes of the highway prior to the Pleasant Hill Road offramp and came to rest adjacent to the roadway. Firefighters arriving on scene worked to extricate the driver but he was declared deceased shortly after the crash was reported at 4:18 a.m.
A preliminary investigation determined that the black Toyota sedan was traveling on SR-24 eastbound, just west of Pleasant Hill Road when, for reasons still under investigation, it veered off the right shoulder and crashed into brush and trees south of the freeway.

So many in there.
How does that happen?
Speeding, wet roads, and lack of concentration. Nothing good happens at 4:15 am
Any more info?
The driver was a good friend of mine.
He had a great family, a loving family. All he wanted to do is to make his family happy .
We’ll never probably know why it happened, But I know that he was probably really tired at 4 AM.
He was a very good driver.
I knew him well…he was like a brother to me, I never had….
A Good soul ,kind and polite human.
Loved life with his kids.
