A 52-year-old local man was detained after a lengthy standoff at his home in the 1900 block of St. Norbert Drive in Danville early Monday, surrendering a pistol and other weapons after police special response teams flooded the neighborhood in response to a “man with a gun” call from the residence at approximately 1:37am.
Responding officers were informed that a resident suffering an apparent mental health crisis was brandishing a pistol and resisting attempts to surrender the gun to an acquaintance. Upon arrival, police heard shots fired from inside the home with at least one believed to have been fired in their direction.
Additional police resources were requested with SWAT and HNT teams answering the call. Neighbors were contacted and advised to shelter in place as more shots were fired by the armed individual. At one point in the standoff, officers in overwatch positions witnessed the suspect take off his clothes and submerge himself in a backyard pool before re-emerging, dressing and eventually surrendering to police.
No injuries were reported. Additional weapons and magazines were recovered from the backyard of the home following the incident.

His poor neighbors.
So many sirens.

sure it was the 1900 block? I live right here and slept through the whole thing
We know folks who have slept through rollover truck crashes in their front yards so… it happens!
The only thing that wakes me up once I’ve gone to sleep is the dog making that going to throw up sound.
