Latest Anti Tesla Protest In Walnut Creek Saturday – Crowd Swells

39518

By our count and totally unofficial but more than 1,000 folks turned out under mild skies in downtown Walnut Creek Saturday to protest Elon Musk, DOGE and Tesla outside the car maker’s Broadway Plaza showroom.

The latest in a series of now regularly scheduled protests was conducted without incident.

You don’t like the guy or what he’s doing, don’t buy the car. But don’t clog our shopping district with your whiny virtue signaling when I want to buy a pair of pants and have a nice lunch.

    • David on Mar 29, 2025 at 10:22 pm

Disruption is the point, as I understand it. The business-as-usual cruelty and cronyism is the focus of the disruption, and still Whit doesn’t care a whit about it, not yet, 70 days in.

Well i could also say, Whit… if you don’t like seeing people voicing their concern about what Musk and trump are doing to our country…as is their constitution right…go buy your darn pants somewhere else!

      • Normal American on Mar 30, 2025 at 10:33 am

They are literally showing the republic all of the corruption and fraud. How is this an issue? You people are deranged.

        • Greg T on Mar 30, 2025 at 4:08 pm

Agree 100%! When interviewed some of these people exposed that they really are being misled. One lady said that Elon Musk and Trump are going to stop all Social Security payments. So there’s a lot of false Panic going on because they’re believing lies. I actually like what Elon Musk is doing! ..and yes, a lot of benefits of being paid out to people who are long dead. Who is scamming that money?

        • Robert on Mar 31, 2025 at 8:14 am

Yes. Sure glad they stopped those story hour reading trans mice. Hearing that “fraud” exposed by our fuhrer on television was baffling and revealing at the same moment.

      • Jay on Mar 30, 2025 at 2:01 pm

It’s less about that then misplaced rage. It’s not like Elon buys pants or eats lunch in WC, so this doesn’t really affect him at all.

What makes it YOUR shopping area? I thought it was OUR shopping area.

    • Dan Galloway on Mar 31, 2025 at 9:37 am

It’s truly revealing how people who support the current administration argue their case here. You don’t have the right to demonstrate because it impedes OUR right to shop. You can’t believe in what you’re doing because you’re paid. Fox News has told us we’re right and you’re wrong. This is not going well.

    • Marcia on Apr 5, 2025 at 10:48 pm

If you don’t like the Guy don’t block up shopping and daily Business for us who utilize the area. Just don’t buy the car. I mean really? Making our lives miserable.

A lot of them are the professional protesters that I’ve seen before at other events. See how many walk over from Bart because they came from Oakland San Francisco and Berkeley. They’re just clogging Broadway Plaza and deterring business. That’s not fair. I’ve heard what they have to say and they’re really being irrational.

      • Sue Haas on Mar 30, 2025 at 5:44 pm

Same tired old trope, these people don’t have beliefs so they must be paid. So typically sad.

Are you so daft as to argue that the opposition to your cult is not real, and that many of us are paid? Are you able to see who is protesting or are you not? Come to the rally. We are the American opposition, and opposition is still allowed. Allowed or not, opposition brought us our liberty from a detached King of England, and tomorrow, 2 more subjects of King Trump will be making our voices heard than were heard last week.

        • Gaye on Apr 4, 2025 at 9:01 pm

It’s no use trying to argue with these guys David. They don’t understand the logic and it’s a waste of time. There’ll just be a lot more people out there tomorrow – we’re bringing some extra friends!

Voicing our outrage at the fascists and neonazis that seem to be running things in Washington is what democracy looks like. My 4th protest, and this is only the beginning. Don’t buy a swasticar! Oh, and we spent plenty of money at the local restaurant.

    • Tay on Mar 30, 2025 at 3:06 pm

Before jumping on the anti-Tesla bandwagon, maybe take a moment to consider what Elon Musk has actually exposed—like the fact that the IRS is still using 1950s-era computers or that a national parks survey somehow cost taxpayers nearly $1 billion. If you’re going to protest something, maybe start with the waste and corruption in our own government. Just because Musk makes people uncomfortable doesn’t mean he’s wrong. Sometimes disruption is exactly what we need.

@John- I’m not political at all but I do follow what’s going on. Unfortunately I have yet to find any news outlet that is unbiased. I personally don’t think either party has actually cared about the “AVG. Citizen” for years.

Trump said he was going to do everything he’s done so far prior to the election. Yes it’s crazy an elected official is actually doing what they said they would do.
I do think he’s going about it wrong, but my guess is he believes he’ll only have this term to do it.

Do I believe he is actually doing this for the good of us all, not a chance!

The Dem’s on the flip side spend seeming without longterm thought or oversight and are focused on everyone accept the “Avg. Citizen” and when they run out of cash just add more taxation. Do I believe anything the Dem’s do is for the good of us all, not a chance!

      Our system is broken

To root out fraud in government, Trump loyalists voted for a convicted con man and reality TV host pretending to be a successful businessman. You reap what you sow.

    • Greg T on Mar 31, 2025 at 6:39 am

The overwhelming majority of Americans actually support this effort! Up to 70%!
And Trump actually has higher support ratings than the democrate party or the Congress in general. And David, most Americans see through the charade of false accusations against Trump. That’s what helped him win. You’re on the wrong side of History my friend.

      • David on Apr 4, 2025 at 10:11 pm

I buy groceries, my friend, and publicly traded stocks. Grocery prices are up, and there was a six trillion dollar discount this week on Wall Street, and as a bigly cash-holding skeptic, I benefited bigly. Outside my door, I sensed a lot of disillusionment, betrayal, and pain. Perhaps YOU were not taken in by the Ron Vara and Navarro tariffs, but, yes, senior presidential trade advisor Navarro is an anagram for his oft-cited guru Ron Vara because they are one and the same, and you are a follower of this fantasy programming.

It’s great that this is 100% non-violent. Also, I know some people who could use a few extra bucks. Where do you sign up to be a paid protester?

  18. Sandy on Mar 31, 2025 at 10:39 am

Muskrat is handing out $1 million checks to Wisconsin voters who sign his petitions, but oh yeah, let’s talk about how Soros is paying off thousands of people in Walnut Creek.

    • Yee Haw Hee Haw on Mar 31, 2025 at 3:02 pm

Soros contributed over one million dollars to our local DA Becton, do you really see this the same as giving a random citizen money? Scratching my head over here.

      • Jackanapes on Apr 1, 2025 at 10:57 am

I think Sandy’s point is that they’re NOT the same, and it’s disingenuous hypocrisy to shed all these crocodile tears over paid protesters (with no evidence, as usual) while Musk straight-up bribes voters in broad daylight. But IMO neither of them should be legal (I’m not sure what Elon’s doing is legal anyway), and if you’re arguing we should overturn Citizens United and stop any/all billionaires from exerting undue influence on our politics, I’m all for it. Koch, Soros, Musk, whoever. How about that?

A lot of these comments show exactly why America ends up with a president like Trump. “In a democracy, every country gets the government it deserves.” And clearly, when a large part of the population is this ignorant and uneducated, the results speak for themselves.

From the NY Times. A funny thing happened when the president’s senior trade advisor wrote his books, i.e. he made up some stuff. For example, he repeatedly referenced a trade expert named Ron Vara who exists only as an anagram of himself, aka Navarro. HE QUOTES THIS NON-EXISTENT PERSON IN HIS BOOKS. No one named Ron Vara ever attended Harvard studying economics as Navarro claimed. Apparently, that’s now a really funny inside joke, that his non-fiction work included made up stuff. I can only ask you to judge for yourself fiction from nonfiction.
