By our count and totally unofficial but more than 1,000 folks turned out under mild skies in downtown Walnut Creek Saturday to protest Elon Musk, DOGE and Tesla outside the car maker’s Broadway Plaza showroom.
The latest in a series of now regularly scheduled protests was conducted without incident.
Good day for it.
You don’t like the guy or what he’s doing, don’t buy the car. But don’t clog our shopping district with your whiny virtue signaling when I want to buy a pair of pants and have a nice lunch.
Disruption is the point, as I understand it. The business-as-usual cruelty and cronyism is the focus of the disruption, and still Whit doesn’t care a whit about it, not yet, 70 days in.
Let them buy Ford’s.

Well i could also say, Whit… if you don’t like seeing people voicing their concern about what Musk and trump are doing to our country…as is their constitution right…go buy your darn pants somewhere else!
They are literally showing the republic all of the corruption and fraud. How is this an issue? You people are deranged.
Agree 100%! When interviewed some of these people exposed that they really are being misled. One lady said that Elon Musk and Trump are going to stop all Social Security payments. So there’s a lot of false Panic going on because they’re believing lies. I actually like what Elon Musk is doing! ..and yes, a lot of benefits of being paid out to people who are long dead. Who is scamming that money?
Yes. Sure glad they stopped those story hour reading trans mice. Hearing that “fraud” exposed by our fuhrer on television was baffling and revealing at the same moment.
Whit, whining about the whiners….
So your against freedom of speech because it took you 5 more minutes to park for your lunch? The constitution. It matters
It’s less about that then misplaced rage. It’s not like Elon buys pants or eats lunch in WC, so this doesn’t really affect him at all.
What makes it YOUR shopping area? I thought it was OUR shopping area.
It’s truly revealing how people who support the current administration argue their case here. You don’t have the right to demonstrate because it impedes OUR right to shop. You can’t believe in what you’re doing because you’re paid. Fox News has told us we’re right and you’re wrong. This is not going well.
I sure hope some of the protesters utilized our local retail and restaurant establishments.

Amen.
That’s a fact
A lot of them are the professional protesters that I’ve seen before at other events. See how many walk over from Bart because they came from Oakland San Francisco and Berkeley. They’re just clogging Broadway Plaza and deterring business. That’s not fair. I’ve heard what they have to say and they’re really being irrational.
Same tired old trope, these people don’t have beliefs so they must be paid. So typically sad.
Where can I sign-up to get paid? … sounds like a fun way to make a few bucks on a Saturday.
Who what when? Where is notification of these events posted for persons not on the usual social networks, like Faceplant? We would have been there if simply asked.
Well, now that you know they are regularly scheduled, show up next Saturday.

Every Saturday at noon.
On 19 April Join us for a protest at the Concord Bart station from 1:00-3:00.
Indivisible.org. Every Saturday, 12-1 in WC, it’s growing. All Tesla dealerships in Bay Area as I understand.
Thanks for that. Every extra body helps.
Every Saturday at noon. I heard about on the news and Googled it.
Or, alternatively, you could’ve found out about it on our Facebook page, which has been posting photos since they started!
Lots of friends and neighbors out there today. Had a god time and lunch after.
More people every week.
People always crying about something. Let’s protest cost of living, gas prices, state taxes, etc. Always skipping important stuff and having an agenda
I wonder how many of these mentally ill people got in there Tesla’s to drive home
*their
What would you do with that information? How many mentally ill Tesla owners are driving a Tesla to a demonstration against Tesla and Musk?
Is that way the wait at Gotts was so long? So many people in WC.
Why are folks so upset Musk es trying to do what
Politicians promise to do, but never do. Our debt is outrageous and demands an equal reaction. The same old, same old has not worked.
Boo hoo. No one cares about George soros protest. Stay out of Walnut Creek please. It’s for people who actually work and contribute to our economy and aren’t parasites leaching on our system.
or getting paid to protest by the DOC. #drain the swamp from corruption.
John, you gotta do better than this nonsense. I was there. I most assuredly was not paid to do so. Good luck to you in your post-truth bubble.
Thank you, Simon!
100%
Thank you John!
Voicing our outrage at the fascists and neonazis that seem to be running things in Washington is what democracy looks like. My 4th protest, and this is only the beginning. Don’t buy a swasticar! Oh, and we spent plenty of money at the local restaurant.
Before jumping on the anti-Tesla bandwagon, maybe take a moment to consider what Elon Musk has actually exposed—like the fact that the IRS is still using 1950s-era computers or that a national parks survey somehow cost taxpayers nearly $1 billion. If you’re going to protest something, maybe start with the waste and corruption in our own government. Just because Musk makes people uncomfortable doesn’t mean he’s wrong. Sometimes disruption is exactly what we need.
Good for you!
I think we should make Elon our King.

I’d really like to know what specific cuts made by the Doge team people are upset about? That seems to never get talked about…I only hear he’s going to steal our social security numbers…for what I have no idea.
@John- I’m not political at all but I do follow what’s going on. Unfortunately I have yet to find any news outlet that is unbiased. I personally don’t think either party has actually cared about the “AVG. Citizen” for years.
Trump said he was going to do everything he’s done so far prior to the election. Yes it’s crazy an elected official is actually doing what they said they would do.
I do think he’s going about it wrong, but my guess is he believes he’ll only have this term to do it.
Do I believe he is actually doing this for the good of us all, not a chance!
The Dem’s on the flip side spend seeming without longterm thought or oversight and are focused on everyone accept the “Avg. Citizen” and when they run out of cash just add more taxation. Do I believe anything the Dem’s do is for the good of us all, not a chance!
Our system is broken
I think this is the truest statement in this thread…Well Said!!
as long as that offensive Enola Gay exhibit is taken down from the Smithsonian I’ll be happy. That was just so woke. And while they’re at it maybe they could just take down the whole Smithsonian. We know science and knowledge offends these people.
Please buy more Tesla! It’s good for the environment
To root out fraud in government, Trump loyalists voted for a convicted con man and reality TV host pretending to be a successful businessman. You reap what you sow.
The overwhelming majority of Americans actually support this effort! Up to 70%!
And Trump actually has higher support ratings than the democrate party or the Congress in general. And David, most Americans see through the charade of false accusations against Trump. That’s what helped him win. You’re on the wrong side of History my friend.
It’s great that this is 100% non-violent. Also, I know some people who could use a few extra bucks. Where do you sign up to be a paid protester?
Muskrat is handing out $1 million checks to Wisconsin voters who sign his petitions, but oh yeah, let’s talk about how Soros is paying off thousands of people in Walnut Creek.
Soros contributed over one million dollars to our local DA Becton, do you really see this the same as giving a random citizen money? Scratching my head over here.
I think Sandy’s point is that they’re NOT the same, and it’s disingenuous hypocrisy to shed all these crocodile tears over paid protesters (with no evidence, as usual) while Musk straight-up bribes voters in broad daylight. But IMO neither of them should be legal (I’m not sure what Elon’s doing is legal anyway), and if you’re arguing we should overturn Citizens United and stop any/all billionaires from exerting undue influence on our politics, I’m all for it. Koch, Soros, Musk, whoever. How about that?
Progressive versus restorative change appears to be the fulcrum point (still and again)
I guess those lower prices are juuuust out of sight, juuuust around the corner…
It is all a con!
Seeing that liberals are miserable is surely satisfying to the base, but the national suffering is real and just beginning.
Passed on those eggs at the super today… just gave ’em a little wave so they’d remember us.
Some buyers remorse displayed in Florida already.
And Wisconsin
Great to see! I’m inspired by my neighbors and might join them. People (including me) need to understand we’re not alone in our horror at the cruelty and incompetence coming out of this administration and its lackeys.
