A disturbing lunchtime assault by a student on a teacher at Danville’s Monte Vista High School Monday has triggered a police investigation and some questions about campus safety.

As we reported at the time, an unidentified student assaulted one of their teachers in the classroom at the school, reportedly knocking the teacher to the ground and inflicting injury to her lower extremities.

The educator, also unidentified by school officials, was treated by paramedics in the classroom and later taken to a local hospital for examination and further care.

The student was removed to a counselor’s office and later detained by Danville police. Details of any potential charges and the student’s disposition could not be immediately determined with officials citing informational limitations due to their age.

San Ramon Valley Unified School District officials would only say that the student was “removed from campus.”

  1. An unfortunate episode to say the least. Many questions harbored, but whether we learn the full set of circumstances remains to be seen. In loco parentis to what extent? Hopefully 24/680 will be provided further information as we move forward.

  2. Very sad to hear this and hope the teacher is okay. Who is going to sign up to be teachers anymore? We need better pay, benefits, and support for teachers and all of the helping professions.

  3. I’m going to reserve judgment until further notice. The way things are right now, there could be an entirely other story we haven’t been privy to as of yet.

  4. First reaction…unacceptable behavior. I’m getting very tired of crime and violence.
Will wait for full details if it comes.

  5. His folks will probably get him to attend mandatory anger management sessions while he gets home schooled and they settle with the teacher’s lawyers for an undisclosed amount.
