A low-flying chopper buzzing Lamorinda/Walnut Creek was a charter aircraft and not military/law enforcement rescue craft as many who contacted us initially suspected.
Low-Flying Chopper, Slow-Burning Tesla Draw Attention In The 24/680 Tuesday
The Bell 407 rotorcraft made a couple of unusually low passes over the area and folks living under the rotor wash must be expecting trouble because they lit up our Flash and Tip Lines with inquiries.
A quick track determined that the aircraft was most likely performing low-level line inspections for PGE, though no one seems to have gotten the memo regarding their presence in the area.
And while tracking encroaching aircraft from above we also turned our attention southward after a plume of smoke started to billow off Dougherty Road in San Ramon – proof that a Tesla battery had caught fire and attracting a lot of attention from the fire department.
Police closed Dougherty for a time so firefighters could do their work before the vehicle could be hauled safely away.
All that within an hour or so – so if you’re interested in finding out about such things, you know where to go!
It was REALLY low in Lafayette.
PG&E I know it’s expensive but please bury your power lines.
One hour for a Tesla battery fire is a great response and handle, it’s like driving around with a nuclear bomb.

Well, I was notified of the chopper survey in advance.
A limo dropped off a notice. I am a shareholder.
Thanks for this. I’m in Northgate near John Muir Hosp and thought it might be a copter waiting for helipad to be freed-up
