Sledge-Hammer Theft Crew Turns Up In Walnut Creek Thursday; Bludgeons Labels Store
A robbery crew of sledge-hammer wielding thieves striking stores up and down the 24/680 targeted the Walnut Creek Labels store, 1367 N. Main, Thursday afternoon – smashing display cases, making off with an undetermined amount of jewelry and other items and injuring one person in the process.
The thieves, carrying their trademark heavy hammers, arrived in a silver Toyota Camry-type vehicle at approximately 4:45pm and entered the store as employees sought cover, targeting glass cases with high-end goods. One woman was treated for injuries to her arm from broken glass – it was not immediately known if she was a customer or employee.
Veteran readers will remember that Labels has been targeted before.

24/680 just curious how you know these robberies are all the same crew vs maybe copycat crimes which would indicate an even larger problem.
Fair point, Jackson… we know the bad guys don’t have a lock on specific crimes and often trade cars, members, etc but this particular unit appears consistent with a crew of similar size, method of operation, and conveyance that has been striking lately.

They know because of their MO in how they operate, the number of thugs who n the robbery’s, likely the race has been the same through all the attacks. They will eventually be caught because the people who do these types of jobs are typically not very smart or highly organized. Eventually they will run into an armed employee, owner or maybe even an armed civilian who will engage these idiots & get one or two in them. Once they apprehend one or identify one after they are shot the house of cards will fall apart. They always do. Just Hope in the meantime no innocent people are injured or killed. IMHO..

Should have a very loud alarm or siren go off that may scare the criminals away and alert a bunch of witnesses.
Car was probably stolen or they switched plates. Occurring more often in Walnut Creek.
They need to run into an armed owner like the dirtbags did in San Ramon CA several years ago. Owner killed both of the assailants!! Saved the taxpayers the time & money for their trials & for their years of incarceration!! Citizens Need to be more aware & start carrying a licensed & permitted firearm & then we will see these types of crimes slowly decrease & eventually disappear. IMHO
Isn’t this a consignment store? Meaning they’re selling other people’s valuables.. meaning other individuals are losing too. I think this store has been hit three times In the last year. I walk by it all the time. Shame.
We need to tighten up our laws and punishment again. This tolerant kindness we’ve tried ain’t working- it’s become a free-for-all for the criminals.

Why would the owner and employee risk their life for used purses and superficial junk.
Insurance will probably drop them if they don’t have better security and figure out why they attract these creeps.
This is exactly why we packed up and moved out of WC. It’s no longer the safe quiet city it was.
