Fingers were pointing and accusations are made following a disturbing incident involving the death of a black dog apparently left in the sun on an apartment balcony in Pleasanton yesterday.
But Pleasanton police say not all was as it seemed.
A local veterinarian confirmed that the cause of death was heat stroke, with no other signs of injury or neglect to the animal.
ANY pet left in the hot sun? It was VERY hot on Saturday and this breaks my heart. There should be consequences for humans that do this stuff (intentional or not).
What a cruel way to die. Very upsetting. Wish I didn’t read this post, but should serve as a warning.
Owner should be fined and not allowed to have pets in the future.
RIP
Look at all the people who dump their animals out on country roads, I can tell you; you’d be disgusted if you knew. humans can really suck. Next time your friend or family talks about getting a dog but you know are incapable, stop them.
Mostly caused by selfish people who if they spent a couple more days to weigh the consequences of their decisions might have not gotten a dog, it is your job to help these people.
What explanation if any did the owner give for leaving a black dog out in the hot sun?

People are really unhappy about this. The whole town is talking and asking questions. Following.
Animal Services has been hit hard in Contra Costa, hopefully Pleasanton does not have the same issues.
So sad justice for poor animals everywhere
We don’t deserve them.
100 degrees in Pleasanton yesterday? Nice move.

Yes, it upset us, too. But people are hoping to get to the bottom of what actually transpired.
Maybe the dog owner could be sentenced to do community service at an animal shelter.
Horrible and it shouldn’t have happened.
Where was the owner? Water left for the dog?

My animals own ME.
